  2. Switch the thermostat fan from ON to AUTO. This alone often drops indoor humidity several points within a day.
  3. Open every supply register and clear return vents. Closed registers in spare rooms raise system pressure and cut airflow across the coil.
  4. Run bath and kitchen exhaust fans for 20 minutes after showering or cooking, and confirm the dryer vents outdoors, not into the basement.
